Boris Séméniako

Boris Séméniako grew up surrounded by comics strips, photograhics books and posters from May 1968 on the wall. After art studies in Paris he spent one year in the poster atelier of the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design. The czech and polish posters from the 60's and 70's are one of his inspiration source.

In his illustrations, he mixes traditional drawing with digital collages, always trying to find the right distance with the text, not too close, not too far. He believes in the power of images, they may not change the world but they can change our perception of the world. So he often creates images with Social commitments and share them with associations, labor unions or activists in demonstrations.

He work's as a freelance illustrator since 1999. His images have been published in major french newspapers and magazines, such as Le Monde, L'Express, L'Humanité, Le Monde diplomatique, Les Echos. He also has created around a hundred books covers for essays, atlas, novels… And sometimes he likes to try new visual experiments for the underground press.

His posters had been exposed in the Warsaw biennal in Poland, the Trnava triennal in Slovakia, the Mexico biennal in Mexico city, the political poster trienal in Mons, Belgium and the month of Graphic design in Echirolles, France. His illustrations appeared in Lüzer's Archives 200 best illustrators worldwide 2011-2012 and in Les illustres, a book that presents the works of the best French illustrators.
