Carlos Zamora

CARLOS ZAMORA (Sancti Spiritus, Cuba 1976) graduated from Havana’s Design Institue (ISDI) in 2000. He worked for Cuban magazines like La Gaceta de Cuba -from the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers; Opus Habana -from the Downtown Havana Restoration Office; and Conjunto -from the Theater Depar tment at Casa de las Américas.

In 2004 he moved to Quito, Ecuador as the Creative Director of the Publishing Depar tment for Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana Benjamín Carrión. In Ecuador he curated The Graphic Rose, his first exhibit of Cuban poster design in which he attempted to convene, under the same roof, Cuban poster designers living on and off of the island. He moved to the United States in 2006. His work has being exhibited in Seattle, Havana, Munich, Teheran, Madrid, Frankfur t, Lima, Ogaki, París and Miami. He cherishes a fondness for russian cartoons, propaganda art and cigars -Cubans or not. He lives with his wife and daughters in Lafayette Square, a victorian neighborhood by dowtown St. Louis.
