Carlos Zamora

CARLOS ZAMORA is a Cuban American Designer and Illustrator. He is the current Chief Creative Officer and founder of CARTEL, a design firm specialized in illustrated branding.

Zamora earned his Bachelor of Arts from Instituto Superior de Diseño (ISDI), the Cuban design school. An author, design advocate and educator, his work has been published by The New York Times, Time Magazine, the New York Observer, The Boston Globe, Advertising Age, The American Lawyer, and The Wall Street Journal. Heavily influenced by the Cuban school of poster design, his work is charged with the use of graphic metaphors, tropical humor, bold use of color, and typographic excellence for an iconic and memorable graphic expression.

He cherishes a fondness for poster design, Russian cartoons from the cold-war days of his childhood in Cuba, propaganda art, and cigars -Cubans or not. He has received the Communication Arts Award of Excellence in the categories of Illustration and Typography. His work has been featured in the Society of Illustrators in New York, 3X3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly and Illustration World. His poster for Cinco de Mayo in Cherokee Street made it to Los Diez, the Top Ten Latino illustrations of the Year by American Illustration.

Recent projects include a second collaboration with Nespresso USA: a store-front mural at Nespresso’s flagship store in Miami, Brickell. A continuation of his Drink It All In campaign introducing Cafecito de Cuba to American audiences.
