Maria Corte

"María Corte studied Illustration at the Escola Massana in Barcelona, where she graduated in 2009. That same year, she was awarded the INJUVE prize, granted by the Spanish Government.

She has been also awarded in several contests such as Communication Arts, American Illustration, ÑH awards & FAD Barcelona

Her work is dominated by an interest in the disruption of space through a creative handling of geometric shapes and the breakdown of all classical conventions in the representation of the human body. Her formal search is combined with a singular chromatic sensibility, characterized by the greatest care in the application of singular textures.

Her creations cover a wide range of fields: book covers, posters, press, advertising, animation, children’s and pedagogical illustration and diverse personal projects.

She has created covers and illustrations for several newspapers & magazines from different countries such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Sunday Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, Evening Standard, Condé Nast, Apartamento Magazine or Icon. She has also worked for Adobe, Apple, American Express, Deloitte, BBC classical music, UCLA, Harvard Business Review amongst others.

Her work has been requested in Spain by entities such as the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture, Madrid city Council, the City Council of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona. 

Corte has also worked on art on "grand scale" doing a 20m mural for Barcelona's city council, AD illustrated campaigns across the city of Barcelona ( Mercè 2019) and Madrid ( #Madrileñear 2021).

Her last art project is an exhibition, held in Fair art for Vienna 2024 named "Double Passion"

Maria Corte & Pablo Picasso –A dialog between two Spanish artists  - 12 etchings by Pablo Picasso and just as many oil paintings by Maria Corte are dedicated to the theme of eroticism.
