Maria Skliarova
Maria Skliarova is a Ukrainian illustrator. Her soft and neat drawings convey complex feelings and emotions, and her characters resemble the heroes of children's cartoons that have found themselves in the real, adult world.
Her illustrations have been featured in Wired, The Baffler, De Correspondent, Republik, Zetland, Local History and Reporters magazines. In addition, her illustrations adorn the book ‘Lost Year’ by K. Marsh (Roaring Brook Press) and essay book “77 днів лютого”.
Because of the war, Maria is an IDA (internally displaced person), she draws about the fate and experiences of Ukrainians and the protection of human rights. Her posters are exhibited in LA and in many cities of Ukraine, she won the all-Ukrainian competition of political posters, presented her works at an exhibition in Spain, and her drawings are used in magazines, books, including WIRED.
The muted colors of her drawings hide successful metaphors, sensitively conveyed moments of life and personal experience.
